• Geochemical Journal

Scope and overview

Geochemical Journal is an international peer-reviewed journal devoted to original research papers in geochemistry and cosmochemistry. It is the primary journal of the Geochemical Society of Japan. Areas of research are as follows:

Cosmochemistry
Mineralogy, Petrology, and Rock Chemistry
Volcanology and Hydrothermal Chemistry
Isotope Geochemistry and Geochronology
Atmospheric Chemistry
Hydrology and Marine Chemistry
Organic Geochemistry
Environmental Chemistry

Papers submitted will be judged from the standpoint of scientific originality and novelty. Papers are expected to provide unique and important new ideas or information on geochemical and cosmochemical problems and to give implication of broad rather than local significance to the geochemical community.

Renewal of Geochemical Journal

Geochemical Journal has been published and sold by Terra Scientific Publishing Company for more than 20 years, but the contract with Terra will be terminated at the end of this year, and Geochemical Journal will be published by the Geochemical Society of Japan using J-STAGE from January 2022. J-STAGE is an electronic journal platform for science and technology information in Japan, developed and managed by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

The biggest change this time is that Geochemical Journal will be reborn as a fully open access journal. This means that anyone in the world will be able to read and download Geochemical Journalarticles. We expect that more people will be able to see Geochemical Journal papers than ever before.

Authors are charged an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publishing their papers. The regular APC for Geochemical Journal is 150,000 per article. Specially, the APC will be 50,000 per article for GSJ members and 100,000 per article for non-members for a few years (click here for more details). In addition, we are planning to offer various APC discounts such as student support and special issue discounts.

We will publish accepted papers as early as possible before publication and as early as possible after publication. This means that the time from acceptance to publication will be several weeks to several months earlier than in the current condition.

We will make preparations so that Geochemical Journalcan be viewed, subscribed to, and cited more frequently than before. Please look forward to the renewal of Geochemical Journal.
