Our business year ends in July. All memberships in the Geochemical Society of Japan submitted after 1 August will be for the following business year (August – July). You will receive the invoice from GSJ office at the end of each business year.
Membership Procedures
Your membership will be completed by following the steps below:
- Complete the membership application form.
- An email will be sent to you with a reception number and a request for payment of the annual fee.
- Pay the annual membership fee to the bank account, then notify the secretariat of the payment using the payment notification form. Student members must also send a copy of their student ID.
- After the office confirms the payment, it will send your membership number and instructions for accessing the members-only page.
※The date the office confirms payment is the membership start date (or the provisional membership registration date), which is not the payment date.
Then, you will be able to log in to the members-only page (My Page) and use member services.
※Provisional Members cannot log in until the new fiscal year begins.

Provisional Membership System
Non-members, especially student non-members, may apply for Provisional Membership if they would like to receive a discount for participating in the annual meeting or apply for the Student Presentation Award between June and July. However, membership is not complete until the office confirms payment of your membership fee. Therefore, applications submitted just before the annual meeting application deadline will not be processed in time. Please apply well in advance.
Due
The current dues structure for the Geochemical Society membership is as follows

- Senior memberships are available to individuals who are retired and at least 60 years of age.
- Regular members who have been members for 20 years or more and are 60 years of age or older may change their membership status to Lifetime Member by submitting a membership application and paying the membership fee of 85,000 JP yen.
- If you fail to make a payment for three years, you will lose your membership of the society. You can reinstate your membership by paying all delinquent dues.

After submitting your membership application, you will receive an email requesting payment of the annual membership fee. Please note the following points regarding the payment.
Important Notes
The name used for the payment must include your “Reception Number” and full name (e.g., 0099999 CHIBAKE Taro). If the Reception Number and Name of payer are incorrect, your membership will not be processed.

Residents abroad can pay their membership fees with a credit card. Download and complete the form below, then notify the GSJ office by email or through the form below. However, paying with a credit card may delay the completion of your registration. If you are affiliated with a Japanese university or research institution, please use a bank transfer whenever possible.

※Students should submit a copy of their student ID along with the bank transfer details through the form.

- Please note that if payment is not received within one month, your registration will be canceled.
- If you would like a printed invoice or a payment form for Japan Post Bank, please contact the Secretariat using the contact form. Your membership registration will be finalized upon confirmation of payment.

Withdrawal notice
Click the button to go to the application screen. Please note that payment for any outstanding annual membership fees will be required*. After you submit your request, the office will review the details and complete the withdrawal process.
*If you request a withdrawal after September, you will be required to pay the membership fee for the current fiscal year.
